Wait. It’s AUGUST???? Where did the summer go?
It’s been few months…I know…I know. I have my hands in so many things that life is just zooming by. Let’s get caught up, shall we?
ADHD and the Search for Therapy
I’m an open book. Pretty much a what-you-see-is-what-you-get kinda guy. I know we all hide behind social media masks and such, and yeah, I definitely have that mask on from time to time. However, when it comes to my mental health struggles, I think it’s important to be transparent. 2020 and on has opened up a Pandora’s Box of mental health issues for me and things lying beneath the surface finally bubbled up to the surface.
Because of all this, I’m 90% certain that I’ve had a form of ADHD my entire life. But I always thought it was just a personality flaw. I was lazy and distracted. I needed to just figure it out. Well. I’m going to be 45. I haven’t fucking figured it out. It wasn’t until some friends of mine started getting help for anxiety and other mental health ailments that I started to realize that I probably have been struggling with something.
The frantic online search for self-testing and the like ensued. And every single ADHD test I take…I pass with flying colors. So, the search is now on for a mental health professional who can help me. It may take a while. The good ol USA’s health system is a bit of a clusterfuck.
In the meantime, I’ve been reading books on the subject and have been organizing my life around a potential ADHD diagnosis. So The Great Organization of 2022 is about to get next level. Let’s just say I have some form of a whiteboard around all my work stations throughout the house.
New Audiobooks!
I'm plugging away on too many projects. (So many good books, so little time)
Here are my 2 most recent offerings:
The Final Gate
I’ve been anxiously waiting finally getting to record this. I’m a huge fan of Wesley Southard and Lucas Mangum’s work. Two of the best horror writers of this generation teaming up to write an ode to Lucio Fulci’s work was an absolute dream to narrate.
Get ready for plenty of eyeball trauma, zombies, and creepy kids…

Doomsday Dogs
Jesse D’Angelo has really come into his own as an author this year. This man is a machine and has pumped out 5 books in about a year and a half AND designs his own covers and internal artwork. Amazing.
Doomsday Dogs’ premise is simple…what is a small town was overrun by werewolves and it’s up to the employees of the local gun store to save the day? This is a horror-comedy with colorful characters, mayhem, and tongue planted firmly in cheek. I had a blast.

The Honey Trap
When I first started this journey, if you would have told me I’d be co-narrating a book with the great Felicia Day I would have asked you what you were smoking! Well, thanks to Encyclopocalypse Publications…it happened. Felicia is the star of the book as Pru, but I get a guest appearance by narrating the chapters dealing with the slimy antagonist, Calvin. A fun cat-and-mouse game that I’m very proud to be involved with.

Unfortunately there are no promo copies of this one, since it was a wide release.
Coming Soon:
The Tower of Time by G. S. Scott
Prey To God by Jesse D’Angelo
What I’m Reading/Listening To
Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinneman, narrated by Jeff Hays
I’m generally not a LitRPG/GameLit fan. All those systems and stats. Ugh. But Matt Dinneman has seemed to cracked the code to get a guy like me hooked to his book. Dungeon Crawler Carl is a hilarious and fun take on a LitRPG. Brilliantly narrated by Jeff Hays, it’s no surprise this audiobook was a hit.
Venom Prison - Erebos
I love heavy metal. Love it. But so many bands seem to just blend together in this genre, that when a band comes along that rises above it’s something that should be celebrated. Welsh band Venom Prison just slays. From Larissa Stupar’s grinding and guttural scream, to the band’s phenomenal musicality, this is a band you’ll want to add to your permanent playlist.
That’s it for now! Thanks for reading this and supporting my audiobook narration. Many irons are in the fire at Encyclopocalypse Publications, so continue supporting the publisher and grab some of their books!
Until next time,

August Newsletter 2022
So, you’ve been on a similar journey to me concerning ADHD. I read something online about Executive Dysfunction a couple of years ago that resonated so much with my life and how I’ve just been floating through it (I’m 50 now). I have a psychiatrist that I had already been seeing, but it’s been slow going for him to commit to a diagnosis one way or another (I’m like 99% sure I have it), and we’ve talked about trying medication, but he keeps putting up roadblocks. Anyway, in addition to your reading, I have a couple of podcasts to recommend. The I Have ADHD podcast is a great resources for explanations and real life stories of the host and her journey. And the ADHD Nerds podcast seems to focus on productivity. Both are on IG if you want to follow them. Also, The Vibe with Ky podcast has recently had some episodes about ADHD, as the host was recently diagnosed, and has just started on meds, and he’s been documenting some of it on the pod. Good luck!
